Ghirardelli came to my team at Hornall Anderson Design Works with a wish list that contained a few teensy weensy requests — revise their logo, completely redesign their packaging, design the interior foil wrappers, create an entire national point-of-sale campaign — simple, right? Well, there are two things we find irresistible: chocolate, and a great challenge. We carefully refined their logo to add depth and elegance while keeping the existing brand recognition. Designed a soft and luxurious set of packaging and introduced a whole new color packaging palette for their myriad products — fifty-six colors, to be exact — because there can never be too many flavors of chocolate! We printed everything on foil with mostly translucent inks that cast a shimmery luster and ensured those chocolates look as fabulous as they taste.
